Wow.
Okay - still no DSL, but I had to sneak in a quick post at the end of my work day.
The hunny and I went to see Fahrenheit 9/11 on Friday night. Wow. I implore all of you - no matter what your political ideals or backgrounds, please see this film. It is an amazingly eye opening look at what war has done to a country and what it is doing to our troops. :( I cried and cried and cried. I left the theatre feeling so motivated to do my part to clean up this mess that has been made!
I took part in the town hall meeting on Monday night - sponsored by Move On. The house party I went to was at my local coffee shop and filled with lots of very nice peeps. Michael Moore spoke to all of us via conference call - he is such an inspiring speaker. He really just comes across as such a nice, sincere person. Again, I left this event all fired up! More than ever before, I want to be part of something bigger than myself and do good good good in the world! So, me and the hunny and a few friends volunteered to take part in a phone bank to call people who aren't registered to vote and ask them if they'd like us to send them the documents to do so.... I also decided that I am going to switch my vacation days around and take Election Day off so I can volunteer.
I also signed up as a volunteer at John Kerry's website. I brushed up on my JK reading, getting a clearer picture of his platform. I also spent some of my allocated yarn money and contributed to his campaign!!! So.... no new yarn this month! I think I spent wisely..... more of an investment really. Kerry is up against a very wealthy opponent and I urge all of you who can afford it, to spare even a little dough to help our country fire our current Commander in Chief. I have also been reading about John Kerry's wife Teresa and have really started to respect the work she's done on Women's Rights..... Right on sista!
If you'd like to volunteer or contribute to John Kerry's campaign, feel free to take a walk over to my volunteer website and take a peek.
Okay, so that's all for today. There's a lot of knitting going on too - but this seemed a lot more important at the moment!! I promise - knitting updates soon soon soon!!!! ;)

Internet Lunch Break
Well hello!
Greetings from my non-knitting lunch break at work. Since my DSL is stooopid and all the people we call for help with it are also stooopid, I decided to work a little on my blog at lunch instead of knitting.... Since apparently I will have all weekend to knit since I still don't have an internet connection. Blah I say!
ATTENTION! ATTENTION! WE HAVE IDENTIFIED AN FO!
Yes you heard right folks..... Another item finished in the nick of time!! Birthday Surprise is complete and I am anxiously awaiting the unveiling! I am rather pleased with the finished product and think my little sis will be happy with her present. :) Yay! I will see her next weekend and will take some pics so I can finally share what it is!
WHY IS THERE A BUNNY UP THERE????
Because I like him, that's why. Do you like him? He is creation of the collaborated efforts of my sister Mary and I..... He is Stitch Bunny. I think he is great. :) I couldn't wait to get him posted up here, thus the non-knitting lunch break. I hope you are all fond of him too - I think the blog is looking a lot less gloomy with him around!
What else, what else....... hmmm..... We are on vacation countdown! Only 4 more work days until I am off for 6 work days. Sigh. Wow - it will be sooooper. Off to Maine for a long weekend ad then I get the littlest sis for the rest of the week. She'll be staying with me and Mary and life will be fun fun fun. :) My mom bought her Stitch 'n Bitch for her birthday so we will be conducting some knitting lessons during her stay. I am so psyched.
Speaking of knitting.... Cast on for Lauren's BUP Bucket Hat and 'tis lookin good. Still trying to make gauge for the bikini.... I'll get there eventually.....
Okay.... I guess that's all for now. You might not hear from me again until next week if SBC decides to still wank it up and not help m fix my DSL woes......
Ta.

I want my DSL
Good grief.
Okay, so mysteriously my house suddenly has no connection to the stooopid SBC DSL network..... So I stuck around after work to post today since I couldn't post anything yesterday! :( Wah.
Hopefully I will get it all worked out when I get home since.....drumroll please......I finished a new banner for my blog! Yay banner! And I reeeeeallly want to get it on here!!!! I am very proud of it! My sister Mary helped me with it since she is the pro at PaintShop..... I can't wait to see it up!
My projects are coming along and multiplying like little lustful bunnies. I went to my fave LYS, The Village Sheep, on Saturday and picked up some Cotton Classic for a bucket hat for my buddy Lauren and some Cascade Fixation for Joda's BIKINI! Woo! Also picked up some fuzzy yarn for Grace........ that one's for ME! ;)
Birthday Surprise is 95% complete - should get that done sometime this week when I dedicate myself to finish her off! Halfway done with the back of my criss cross strappy VK tank..... Things are progressing nicely......
Well, I am off to drive home and walk that beeeyoooteafull pup of mine. Hopefully I will have DSL tonight so I can show off my shiny new banner!
Ta!

Suggestions, please?
Help!
Okay, so I reeeeally want to knit something up in Phildar Onde - and I need to buy my little stash before time runs out! BUT WHAT TO KNIT???
I really want to knit a simple cardigan, but I am having trouble finding one that suits Onde's gauge. Something along the lines of Bonne Marie's Ribby Cardie is what I would love - but that pattern in particular calls for heavy wortsed, which Onde is definitely not.
So, does anyone have any suggestions on a cardigan pattern for (i guess) an advanced beginner that would use this weight yarn? I leave myself at the mercy of my talented knitting community! Danke!

I'm a Knitty Head
You heard right! The very talented Wendy, who I see all over the Knitty Coffeeshop, has organized a webring for all us bloggers who frequent there.
So, I enlisted and now have a very happy yarn face guy over on my sidebar. Yay happy yarn face guy!
I am now about 65% through Caitlin's Birthday Surprise. And I am almost halfway up the back of my criss crossy strappy tank from VK. Mary's hat is blocking and she is working on some ridiculously cute applique animals to live on her hat...... just wait.
And of course I am already looking for another project to start...... How about..... a knit bikini for my friend Joda?!?!?! And an orange bucket hat for Lauren? I am in the mood to spread around the knitting love! And you can't give someone a knit bikini for Christmas! So, it is summer gift time in the land of Stitch..... And don't worry! There will be plenty knit for me too! :)
On another tangent, I heard some disturbing news today.... The beeeeyoooteafull Phildar Onde yarn that everyone has bee fawning over is being....choke...... discontinued!!!!!! Got the tip at Habsgirl (blog of another Knitty Head named Sarah!). You can still pick up the yarn (on sale!) at Knit 'n Tyme. Thanks for the tip fellow Sarah with an h!

Deeeeee-troit Bas-ket-baaaaall
I love that they play motown in their stands. I love that they play with such heart. I love that no one but their fans thought they could do it. I love that Ben Wallace sported that fro for every home game in the series. I love that Rasheed Wallace yells when he wants to. I love that Rip Hamilton went to UConn. I love that Tayshaun is so much tougher than he looks. I love that Larry Brown still coaches every possession, even when his team is up by double digits and there's less than a minute remaining. I love that there is a sign on the way out of their locker room to the court that says, "Hard Work Pays Off". I love that they won the series in front of the people who love them.
I love the Detroit Pistons. Way to go guys.

Local Knitters Wanted
I wanna give a shout out to my knitting buds over at the Knitty Coffeeshop! I love that gang! I put up a link to my Honeymoon Cami pics and they are all so nice they made me feel super warm and fuzzy! It feels good to gab with some other knitters!
Hopefully our local SnB will take off soon - I am dying for some social action! If you are in or nearby Fairfield County, Connecticut and looking for a group of crafty peeps to hang with - shoot me an email or click on the Yahoo! group graphic I posted to the left. We have't had a get together yet but I am hoping we'll get some more interest soon! :)
<3 <3 <3 <3
not much news on the knitting front.... 'Twas 95 degrees here yesterday so i was not exactly inspired to move any more than necessary. ugh. Worked a few rows on the cross strap tank.... but didn't get too far before succumbing to laziness!
Thankfully rain is on it's way and the temp has cooled a bit out there! My flowers are thirsty! They need this! Shortly I will be off to knit for my lunch break - yay! My at-work project is Caitlin's birthday surprise - and my at-home is the tank for me..... Gotta break up the monotony ya know????

The Honeymooner
Here she is in all her glory....
We can blame the silliness on the photographer. My sister is known for making me make ridiculous faces when she takes my picture.....
Thanks again to Julia for the bitchin' pattern! I love this cami!!!

I am a Project Finishing Machine!
Woooh!
I finished 2 (count em! 2!) projects on Thursday night/Friday night! Pictures forthcoming (hopefully to be posted tonight!) - I completed my lucky Honeymoon Cami (wore it last night and the Pistons WON!!!! Yeah baby!) and finished up Mary's Bucket Hat! She will now work on the little appliques - I'll post some in-progress pics.... The hat needs a good blocking, but the knitting is finit!
Could I sit still? Were 2 projects on the needles enough to satiate this sick hunger I have for yarn and sticks? Take a guess.
I didn't last past 1pm on Saturday.... Swung by the LYS and grabbed some Berrocco Denim Silk in light purple (soooo pretty!) and cast on for the strappy tank which graces the cover of the latest issue of Vogue Knitting..... I am working on the back piece now and happily chugging along on Birthday Surprise....
The socks.... are sitting where they have been for the past 2 months. I knit according to mood :) Apparently I have not been in a sock mood for a little over 2 months.
Check this out! I saw this on Nina's blog, clevrkat and had to be a copyclevrcat:

Wow I am REALLY amorous.... Watch out hunny!! Quizzes don't lie! ;)
I'll try to post those pics tonight.....

Birthday Surprise Time!
My youngest sister's 14th birthday is on it's way.... I really wanted to make her something but couldn't decide what.... SO, I gave her a bunch of links to cool patterns and told her to go nuts. Turns out she couldn't decide either....guess it runs in the fam. Anyway, she at least narrowed down the list for me....
Now I get to pick something that I know she wants... and since I will see her in person (yay!) later this month, I am going to pick one of the simpler ones she mentioned and try to get it done in time for our visit... Henceforth, (since she visits this site) this project will be known as Birthday Surprise! For, if anything goes terribly wrong with Birthday Surprise, I will need to vent about it.... It will just be vented about incognito!
On the note of hermanas, I am the oldest of 4 girls (i can hear you -"Lucky Dad." don't feel bad - everyone says it). So birthday surprise is for Cait, the youngest... Here's a recent pic of the next youngest at her gradu-mo-ation from college.
Just a little nip of courage, Heather. We're so proud.

If you'd like to hear the ravings of another deranged sister, you can check out Mary over at Scribble Monster. She is between Heather and I in age.... and she likes to scribble.
SO - I am about 50% through weaving in the ends of my Honeymoon cami - once those are done, I am trying this sucker on to check the length of the straps and BOOM! It should be done! :) Then I must finish Mary's bucket hat or she'll hate me forever... then on to Birthday Surprise.
Always seems I have the next month's worth of knitting planned well in advance........ ;)

The Art of Knitting Mojo
Oh yes! The now dubbed Pistons Honeymoon Cami has come out victorious! That's right!! In one of the most frustrating games I have ever watched (and knit through), the good ol' red and blue did come out on top.
Excellent timing as it turns out since my cami is almost complete! Yay! Working on the Left Front piece now - then on to the i-cord and weaving in the ends!
The sweetheart informed me last night that my cami is the key to a victory against our most hated rival - the Lakers (yuck!). But being so close to complete...and that series not beginning until Sunday... I had to break it to him that I could not possibly stretch out what remains in the project to last a 2 week series of basketball games.... So, we have found a happy compromise. My objective is now to finish this project entirely before Sunday's game - which means no dawdling around about weaving in all those many many ends from my stripes!!!! (Very hard for me lemme tell ya...) And then I am contractually obligated to don said cami for each and every game of the series. He really believes in mojo. He is starting to make me believe in it too.
So wish me luck! The Bucket Hat and the Opal socks remain at their sad 50% complete states.... They will have to wait just a few days more.....
