Wanna Trade????
Ooh ooh! Did anyone else out there have a serious obsession with trading stickers when they were little? I know I did. And my sisters, too. We had very strict rules for trades. And always had an impartial third party to watch over the trade to make sure no one was getting swindled..... There is something super rad about handing someone something you own and them handing you something they own and all of the sudden, you have something new! And so do they!
This brings us to today's topic - my luscious Lana Grossa Pep Print which I bought on a complete impulse and now cannot decide what to do with..... I am trying to clean out ze Stash a bit and these super soft fuzz balls just keep looking at me all sad like.... "knit us! knit us!", they call....but to no avail. I have a whole slew of projects coming up and this yarn just didn't make the cut this time round. And with budget constraints as they are, best to trade for new yarn than to stick this back in ze Stash bin and continue spending like a mad woman.... ok let's be real. I will do that anyway. But this is fun. So here you go:
4 skeins of Lana Grossa Pep Print in color 328 (evergreen)
A better look at the color can be found here: http://www.yarnmarket.com/big_photo.cfm?image_link=/images/ACF44E.jpg&width=442&height=550&my_title=Pep+Print+Yarn+328+Evergreen
Value: I spent about $13 per skein at my LYS.
For a trade.... hmmm... I would looooooove some Koigu KPPM - but would also entertain anything from Rowan, Debbie Bliss, Noro, Phildar or anything you think I'd like....I am an equal opportunity yarn junkie!
Interested? Holla back to vikingkittensATyahooDOTcom!!!!

Bye Bye Village Sheep :(
Well..... I am back to not having a favorite LYS...... I have posted the same story below on the Coffeeshop because I am SO upset about this and felt this was really my only forum to vent! Because of what you are about to read, I will no longer be shopping at The Village Sheep in New Milford, CT. It's a real shame because the staff at the shop is knowledgable and very, very friendly and I have enjoyed driving up to see them whenever I had money for a stash enrichment expedition..... If the staff owned the shop, I think that this situation might have been handled in a more professional and courteous manner.
My buddy (and knitting mentor!) had been to the shop a few times and stopped in on a Saturday with her 9 year old daughter to pick up some yarn she had asked be held. Her daughter is learning how to knit and LOVES to go to yarn shops with her Mom (and she is an awesomely polite, very bright girl!). They were there for a little while poking around and chatting with the very nice Manager of the shop. They left without incident and not thinking anything was amiss.
Over two weeks after that visit, the Owner of the shop sends a very nasty email to my friend "informing" her that her daughter had gone into a room by herself and poured bottles (plural!!) of wool wash soap onto over $250 worth of yarn! In her note she admitted that no one had seen it happen, but that since they discovered it after they left the shop they assume it MUST have been this young lady. The tone of this letter was accusatory and very hurtful. (She called her 9 year old girl "malicious"!!!) The worst part was that they had her email address because she had sent the shop a wonderful note to tell them how great she thought it was!! The owner used that note to forward this nasty letter to her!!!!
I have had a couple slightly negative experiences with the owner myself, but figured she was just not a people person and kind of left it at that. But after this display, I can never spend my knitting dollars there again!
If this woman had the tact to approach the situation in a nice way, I think we would all have a different perspective on this. She could have simply asked her to speak to her daughter about it and ask if perhaps she had spilled some soap accidentally?
The truth is that on a busy weekend day, anyone could have spilled the soap - without malicous intent! But, instead of looking at anyone else, she decided to peg it on the one woman who had a child with her around the time they discovered it. Above all else it proves to me that the owner of this shop does not value her customers the way that she should! And certainly neglects to treat them with the respect they deserve! I can't imagine writing a letter as negative and mean-spirited as this - to anyone - let alone a good customer of my business!!!
So that's it. Anyone who follows this blog has probably noticed by now that I do not often bitch, whine, or complain. So you know it's bad when I post something like this! :(
Thanks for listening....errr.....reading. I needed to get that off my chest.

Lotsa Stuff!!!
Okay, so first I have GOT to apologize for my serious lack of posting in the last week. I can sum the reason up in one word. Olympics. Yeah - haven't been doing much that doesn't involve watching television for the last week.....
SO let's get caught up!
Firstly, I received my first package from my new Secret Pal!
Say it with me, "Oooooooh!"
My secret pal has suggested that I get in touch with my inner child! Oh, pal - you don't know how much I need that right now! Things have been a little stressy lately..... But, I am definitely gonna play some Pick-Up Sticks (neat! I haven't had a set of these since I was little!) and it will make things seem a lot more cheery! Also.... I should point out that my pal would not have sent me an empty York Peppermint Bites package.... It was very full upon arrival and was made short work of. LOL.

Click on me for a closeup!
Sorry for the giganto pop up pic - I can't seem to re-size the picture! argh.
Anyhoo, I am superly proud of these as I made up the pattern myself! Yay! I know it is a really little project so it is not somethin to get tooo excited about, but it is a first for me! Yippee! I am trying the pattern for a larger size for someone, so as soon as I am sure it doesn't have any major mistakes, I'll post it here for anyone that wants it! I used the awesome Lang Filo yarn that Beverly sent me during the first Knitty Coffeeshop Secret Pal Swap! Comfy cosy are these!!!

Last But not Least.....
Can anyone guess which of my flowery plants EXPLODED way bigger than anyone could have imagined? (and then started stealing sunshine from it's neighbor plants who are just sittin there mindin their own beeswax?)
*
I'll give you 3 guesses. Wait. No. I'll give you one.

Hooraaaaaaay!!!!
Oh baby!
It's done! And I love it! Yeah! This was the pattern from the cover photo of Vogue Knitting (Summer 2004 issue).... I knit it up in Berocco Denim Silk in a lovely shade of lavender...... sigh
And of course, now that it's finished.... on to something new! I have been drooling over Pia lately (Rowan issue 35) and while I had promised myself that I was done with tanks this summer.... I can't resist!!! Here she is in her raw form:
Soon my pretty.....soon..... I think she will be started on my way to see the hunny's pop in Massachusetts this Sunday. I've already delegated driving responsibility so I can have some serious needle time. :)
AND PROPS TO MY SECRET PAL!!!!!!
She has been revealed!!! Not in that way! Quite respectably!!! The lovely and very talented BiffD from the Knitty Coffeeshop was kind enough to bestow present after present on me!!! I swear I had the greatest secret pal of all!!! You rock, Beverly! I really appreciate the happy mail and the beautiful gifts you created! Here is the final gift (Wow!) that Biff sent my way:
I was hankerin' for some new yarn and this surely hit the spot!! I love this Lang Fillo - and 5 skeins of the loveys! I will surely make something grand out of this! She also sent along some beautiful satin fabric that her brother brought back from China 20 years ago!!! She suggested maybe a lining for a bag - sounds good to me!! It is beautiful!!!!
Thanks again Biff! :) See ya back in the Coffeeshop!

Purple is a Fruit
A little laugh to brighten your day...... (please keep in mind I am a false blonde, so I can't take offense to this joke.... Yes!)
A highway patrolman pulled alongside a speeding car on the freeway. Glancing at the car, he was astounded to see that the blonde behind the wheel was knitting! Realizing that she was oblivious to his flashing lights and siren, the trooper cranked down his window, turned on his bullhorn and yelled, "PULL OVER!" "NO!" the blonde yelled back, "IT'S A SCARF!"
LOL. Cheezarif! But funny!
So...... THE CRISS CROSS STRAP TANK IS DONE! I am now in a finishing frenzy! And I am loving every second of it! (Yeah, I'm sick.) The shoulders are grafted and I am 2/3 of the way down one side..... I am so determined that I have put off giving myself a manicure because I simply cannot spare my hands for the time the polish would take to dry..... Now THAT'S dedication, folks. ;)
Hopefully, I will make more progress tonight.... knowing me that means it will be done tonight no matter how late I have to stay up..... I get so giddy when a project is this close to being complete! I am doing a giddy little "I almost have another thing to wear" dance.........
dance dance wiggle shimmy dance

All Hail My Secret Pal!
Wowee!
Before I even get a chance to post pics of my last gift from my super secret pal, she struck again!!!
When I received the items below, I cracked up - this was a happy mail day fer sure!!!!
The note reads, "Hi Sarah, You can run with these scissors, as long as they're in their pouch! -your pal". YOU ROCK SECRET PAL!!! Not only was this an adorable and thoughtful gift - I was really in need of a small pair of scissors! Amazing.
And then, as if that were not enough, well, just look for yourself...... :)
.....sarah drools......
She knows I take my knitting everywhere and have a penchant for mint and chocolate - so wonderful things to keep my hands clean and my knitting smelling nice - and CHOCOLATE!!!!
please note - there were 4 tasty chocolates which arrived on my doorstep - there are 3 in this photo - they are indeed presently less than 3 of these tasty chocolates residing in my home.....
Wow, thank you Secret Pal 'o Mine!!! :) You put a big grin on my face! How I love to check my mail! Yippee!
Oh yes - and knitting progress..... funny how that seems to take a back seat when tasty chocolates and I are given a formal introduction.... I have started the neck shaping for my cross strap tank! Yahoo! It is coming along swimmingly - though I should point out that I had to re-write the directions for this part so my pea brain could follow them. It amazes me how some knitters are actually able to follow patterns that within one paragraph use the phrase "AT THE SAME TIME..." three or more times..... Sorry Charlie, but this little fishy needs it S-P-E-L-L-E-D out for her. But I wrote it all out and we are back on track-diddily-ack.
