Revenge is a Dish Best Served Filled to the Brim
Have I ever mentioned that my two furry companions are obsessed with food? Well, they are. Both of them.
Kyra has been a successful participant in the Boot Camp that is Sarah's Puppy Dog Diet. She lost the pounds, looks great, has energy! But, she has never faced her mental issues... she clearly associates food with love (seriously - when I first cut back her portions, she was totally depressed and bummed out!). So, I keep an eye on her and feel proud that I was able to help her get back to a normal healthy size and try my best to keep her from licking the ice cream from little kids' cones when we're at the park.
Tito (aka Mister T) is not a successful participant in ANYTHING. He is a big loudmouth when he doesn't get food OR when there is not enough to his liking. He loves to eat his bowl of food, yell at me for more and when more is not delivered, he runs to the nearest spot of carpet and claws the crap out of it while staring at me. Cute, right? He is the kind of over-eater that would eat himself to death. And he'd die happy. Because THAT IS HOW MUCH TITO LOVES FOOD. Recently, I decided to go hardcore and ignore his pushy, destructive ways. "You're going on a diet, Fatso!" I declared. (I'm not mean. Have you seen this cat? He weighs like 17 pounds. It's unreal.) Reduced calorie food and severly smaller portions! Three days in and things seemed to be going smoothly.
Too smoothly.
This morning, I awoke to this:
This is a bag of kitten food I picked up at the store and had placed on the counter. Why a bag of kitten food, I hear you asking? Well, it was on sale and I had been considering adopting the kitten that my buddy Michelle's cat recently had (she is an only child and needs some work to come out of her shell - more on her another day) and saw the kitten food and figured - either I will keep it for her or I will give it to Michelle if I can't take her. Mystery explained. Anyway - it was up on the counter when I went to bed. It was no longer on the counter when I got up this morning.
This, loyal readers, was a joint effort. You see, Kyra cannot get up on the counter, but Tito sure can. And Tito - for all his voracity - is incapable of tearing such a giganto hole straight down the side of the bag as we see here. No, friends - this involved teamwork.
Have Kyra and Tito finally found the one thing that can cause them to bond and work together? Have they finally realized that the other is just as pissed as they are that the lady with the opposable thumbs is keeping a lock on the pantry door?
Or maybe they figured if they ate this bag of food, then I couldn't possibly bring another animal into their home?
Either way, the result was the same.
This is how I found them:
And wouldn't you know it? Not one peep from anybody so far today for food. As a matter of fact, I dropped some of my lunch right in front of Kyra's face and she couldn't bring herself to eat it.
I'd like to think this taught them a lesson. Too bad it will be forgotten by 6:40am tomorrow morning when my alarm goes off.

You can definitely tell from the pictures that Kyra was coerced into helping, and that Mr. T was the mastermind...
I mean, look at that smug grin on Tito's bloated face, and compare it to the "I'll never forgive myself" look on Kyra!

Oh my! That is hilarious. I feel bad for those overstuffed babies, but they certainly figured out how to put the mistress in her place. I love animals.

i am familiar with this type of behavior. my cats are always street urchins that find me. they have a tendency to get a bag of bread and eat a hole in it, pull every slice out and take a bite out of each. or whatever else they can get their paws on.
i switched my cats to maxx cat food that is super healthy and nice and has no fillers and the fiber is real fiber as opposed to the non-food stuff that they put in most pet foods. this fills them up and their fur is super nice. also, the vet told me that for cats you should take their food up at 6p and not put it back down until morning. cause they pick all night.
i associate food and love, treat my hubby that way and i wonder, are you pets jewish maybe? hmmmm....i don't think that buddhists have these issues.
