Fiberflew

Sarah: Say "bye, bye", Fiberfly!

Fiberfly: Bye, bye, Fiberfly!

I have come to realize that with a 50 (sometimes 50+) hour a week job, it's just become too much for me to maintain. It's really not the online shop aspect - it's really just the craft I chose to work with. Every time I dye yarn and fiber it is the most arduous process! Setup in my tiny apartment is incredibly time consuming and honestly - daunting. I know it is a lame excuse, but it is my excuse. And I love it despite it's obvious flaws.

I've thought about it a lot over the last two months and came to realize that I just don't love doing it enough to keep up with it... If I'm going to have an online shop and invest my free time and remaining energy into it, I want to have fun while I am doing it! (Watching Mary's passion for her shop really helped me recognize this.) I consider this a step in the learning process. I think it was a successful little venture in the sense it was my first peek into online marketing. Now, on to better things!

The good news:

- Fiberfly itself will go bye bye, but before it does I will try to sell off my few remaining wares by offering free USPS Priority shipping (free standard shipping outside the US) for any purchases made by September 12 (2 weeks from today!). Any items that remain after that time will be set aside for use in a future online shop or craft fair (I might just spin all that roving up into yarn myself!).

- A new, better, more exciting, more fun filled, more Sarah-centric online shop is on it's way! I am digging deep into my crafty little soul to figure out what I really like to do best... My instincts are telling me to dabble in a few things rather than focus on just one craft. Maybe some hand made aprons, some handspun yarn, some stitch markers, some clothing, some prints of my best photos... Let's not have Sarah get bored, shall we? It's all for shits and giggles anyway.

Heavens to Betsy, I heart Etsy!

I just wanted to post a shamless plug for my friend Lauren, who just started her Etsy shop!

Lauren is, by far, the most talented and innovative jewelry designer I have met in my travels. She really has an eye for taking a simple design and putting an elegant, modern twist on it - making it her own. And the girl has serious skills. The Scissor Squad as a whole has been encouraging this lady to spead her wings and share her fantastic-ness with the world... and she's taken the first step!

Her shop is called Ornametal (how COOL is that?) and I urge you all to stop by and take a peek. She has a few items up now and I can't wait to see what else she has in store for us... Congrats, lady! You are going to kick some metal arse! ;)

Elsewhere in Etsy Land, my sister has been pumping out the bath and body goods like nobody's business. Go take a look! Green Dreams is starting to take off and for good reason... She's got a knack for combining yummy scents with all natural ingredients and has gotten me off of almost all of my store bought cosmetics... (Umm.. parabens? They is the DEVIL!)

As for myself, I indulged this weekend and made some luxury items for Fiberfly... I found some freshwater pearls this weekend that were begging to be fancy pants stitch markers and finally got around to spinning some silk in the same colorway I used for Clapotis. I had to force myself to post them all on the site, because I really just wanted to be selfish and keep them all for ME. But, that's when you know you've made something good, right? ;)

Etsy is besty.

Fiberfly!

So I know I've been silent for a while here - but this time I have good reason!

Mary and I have started up an Etsy shop to sell our fiber! Wooo!

We call her Fiberfly and we just posted our last round of handpainted fluff for the world to see. :)

Go! Take a peek! I'll wait...

My personal favorite is the mohair I handpainted in the "I'm So Sari" colourway.... Yum yum persimmon and orchid! Yum yum mohair! How I heart thee!

Here's a pic:

I'm hoping to get another batch of roving finished up this weekend! How exciting!

Can I possibly use any MORE exclamation points?!!!!!!!
