Almost Done!

Okay.... I took my sweet a$$ time staring at my quilt pondering my quilting options...

And one day it struck me! I knew what I wanted to do! Out came the Viking and I sewed away and came out with this....

And a close up of my favorite square :)

So, the binding is on, just need to hand sew it down and she will be finito! I chose a poly satin binding, since I remember loving the silky edges of my baby blanket... turned toddler blanket... turned little kid blanket... I really hung on that blanket longer than I probably should have. :)

I'll post once she's all done! Yay!

I am a mad woman

So I decided I would see how long it actually takes to make a quilt. (A clear sign that I need a life).

Sunday I got up sat on my deck staring at the boats, went to lunch with a friend... and then set to work. Cutting, sewing, cutting, sewing... two size blocks... fairly large blocks to keep it simple: 20(ish)"x3" and 10(ish)"x5.25"...

There was a 4400 marathon on so I spent a lot of time watching that... I really need rear speakers...
Anyway... the point is Sunday I got the entire thing pieced, sandwiched, quilted (stitch in the ditch method), and trimmed by the time I was ready to go to bed. Yesterday I got home from work put binding on it (which is much more of a feat than you may realize...

and now it is complete... I don't know if I will do that again anytime soon but it was nice to see how much actual time it takes.

I think I am going to send this one to my year long swap partner from getCrafty since her birthday was Sunday and she has sent me some stellar things so far…

Square Swap Anyone?

I am hosting a sqare swap on getCrafty it is the third or fourth one I have done... the squares are pretty cool and a fun way to make a crazy quilt; to incorporate fabrics you might not have seen; and to see squares up close and personal that you may have been previously afraid to attemp. Here is a picture of some of the squares that I have received so far.

Second baby quilt Complete

Ok I couldn't just finish the first and not the second... now it is complete... I used cotton for the back and some flanned I had that matched, but not enough to do the whole back with.
I also practiced my binding on this one... it looks better than the pea quilt and was a little easier; but I still do not love doing it.
